30 Days of Journaling: Day 16, 17 & 18

I've not really been feeling myself these past few days hence the lack of updates. Here are the pages from today, yesterday and the day before.

I made a texture for the background by holding the card sheet against a brick wall and rubbing a crayon over it. I used a calligraphy pen for the lettering and just did some little sketches to acompany them. The firework was made out of something I found in a Christmas card pack, I used Sharpies to make it more colourful.

This is probably my least favourite page i've made so far. I found it really hard to be inspired by the brief as it was such a horrible day. I also don't think the watercolour pencils I used worked as well as the did last time.

I used a calligraphy pen for the lettering and a black wax crayon for the font borders.

Thrift-Ola Take 2

A couple of weeks ago I received another box of goodies from Thrift-Ola. Inside it was:

This cute little fawn.

A Pierrot trinket box.

These amazing boots! I love them and have worn them loads already!

30 Days of Journaling: Day 15

This was my first time using wax crayons for this project. They were just ones that came in a children's art set years ago and the colours weren't very strong, so I had to press down really hard with them and ended up snapping one! Ooops!

30 Days of Journaling: Day 14

This took me back to the days of school, having to learn and recite poetry in class. I don't have a favourite poet or Autumn poem so I chose 'To Autumn' by William Blake as he seemed the most school-y out of the list of poems/poets I found (although saying that I can't actually remember learning any William Blake in school). I wanted the page to look like something i'd created during primary school so I got a tea bag and washed it over the page to give it that kinda old look then I used a HB pencil and tried my best to recreate how I wrote back then.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 13

I used gold acrylic paint for the large lettering and gold and silver giltter gel pen for the smaller lettering. I had to take the picture at a funny angle because the lettering wasn't showing up because of the flash when I tried to take it the usual way.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 11

I used a 2B pencil for the lettering and the outlines then a watercolor pencil for the blue bits. The blue around the 'sad' part went a bit wrong though. I always think my pages look absolutely crap in the pictures, I swear they're not that bad in real life!

30 Days of Journaling: Day 10

I used gold acrylic paint for the lettering and then some hologram glitter nail varnish on the heading, I would have used it on all the lettering but I didn't have enough left. It doesn't show up very well on the first picture so i've added a close-up. I definitely think the page looks better in real life than it does in the photos.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 9

I used the usual gold and bronze acrylic paint for the lettering, for the border I used an acrylic paint called 'Antique Gold'. Some of the border was still a little bit wet when I took the picture. Also I made a bit of a booboo yesterday with my page by including a paint brush which I thought was knackered but it actually turned out to be one of my good ones and was the finest one I had, so for this page I had to make do with a number 5 brush which meant the lettering came out a bit too thick for my liking.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 8

Some shut eye
Diet Coke
Rescue Remedy

Again, I used silver and gold glitter gel pens for the lettering (the gold only has a teeny bit of ink left in it) and black Sharpie for the musical notes and Zs.

New items listed!

These have been up on Etsy for a few weeks now but I didn't want to blog about them until i'd put them on Folksy too.

Mini Lavender Pillow £4

Mini Lavender Pillow £4

Lavender Pillow £8

Pink Tetris Brooch £6

Multi Coloured Tetris Brooch £6

30 Days of Journaling: Day 7

I just used orange Sharpie and pencil for this one. I'm not sure if it really work though. Also the flash on my camera makes the pencil look faded in parts but it's not like that in real life. I must start trying to do my pages in the day so I won't get these camera issues!

30 Days of Journaling: Day 6

I  used a yellow Sharpie and outlined it in gold glittery gel pen. The tissue paper I found in a Christmas card pack, I also found the gold card I used to make the heart there too. The yellow and gold hologram card was in my 'mosaic tiles' tub. The lighter yellow square was cut out from a paint colour chart. The long yellow strip was from a matchbox. The button badge was from my vast collection displayed on my noticed board and I stole the peg from the washing line!

30 Days of Journaling: Day 5

Today, I decided to use mostly pencil as I hadn't used it before. I outlined the heading in silver glittery gel pen and did some of the other lettering in that too. The apple pictures were off the box the apple pie came in (I could only use a tiny bit of it as there is still some pie left!). The 'Smoking Kills' is from the back of one of my old cigarette packets. I had trouble taking a picture of this page because of the lighting and the silver gel pen kept 'disappearing' with the flash on my camera.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 4

I went into may garden and collected a few things that had either fallen on the floor or were about to drop off. There were bugs crawling everywhere whilst I was trying to glue everything down - eek! I know this page is going to take a little while to develop, i'm going to put it in the middle of my big atlas to dry out as I don't have a flower press. I just used the same bronze acrylic paint that i've used previously for the lettering.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 3

The green starry card was an offcut from the back cover of my 30 Days of Lists booklet. I did the lettering for the title in gold acrylic paint and the rest of the lettering with gold glittery gel pen (which is running out remarkably quickly). I've noticed that it doesn't photograph very well so I had to take a shot of it from far away then zoom into it, hence the slightly blurry quality of the picture.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 2

The fairy paper was left over gift wrap i'd bought for my cousin's birthday the other day. I knew there wasn't enough left to cover the whole page so I painted the card with acrylic paint first, it's not very good quality paint so it's left it looking a little bit grainy. I'm not going to buy any more of it once this tube has been used (the brand is Crawford & Black, they're yellow paint isn't very good either but the rest are okay). I used bronze acrylic paint for the lettering. Because it was getting a bit late in the day and I wanted to get everything done by midnight, I took the picture when everything was still wet hence it looking a little bit bubbly in parts.

30 Days of Journaling: Day 1

I decorated the front cover using left over mosaic squares I made last year when I was working in a primary school. I used gold acrylic paint for the title.

I collected some fallen leaves from the garden and sprayed them with Krylon glitter spray but it didn't work very well. Once again, I used gold acrylic paint for the lettering.
